Know Your skin for jewellery
Is your skin tone warm or cool? Take a white piece of paper and hold it under a light next to the underside of your wrist. By comparing your veins that can be seen through the skin (usually best place to find them is under your wrist or elbow), determine whether your veins have a bluish or green tint. If they are more on the blue side, you have a cool skin tone. People with cool skin tones can have anywhere from light blue to dark brown eyes. Most people have cool skin tones, including people with dark brown or tan skin. If your veins are more on the green side, you have a warm skin tone. You will see golden-apricot or yellow undertones when looking in the mirror. Usually people with red or strawberry blonde hair have warm undertones, and like cool skin tone, you may have any eye color.
2. Does your skin match silver or gold? Cool skin tones favor silver, platinum, and white gold. Stone colors for cool skin tones are pink, blue, purple, red, and magenta. Warm skin tones favor gold, pewter, brass, and copper. Compliment colors for warm tones are brown, green, orange, yellow, coral, and turquoise.
3. But what about wearing them together? If your skin tone does not represent the silver or gold jewelry you usually like to wear, don't worry! In the past, wearing gold and silver jewelry together was quite the mishap, but today many necklaces, rings, bracelets, and earrings are made with both silver and gold.
Matching silver and gold can sometimes look too matchy-matchy, but by adding complimentary colors to your jewelry, such as a colored stone or metal can really spice up your look. Whether you have a warm or cool skin tone, mix and match jewelry to see what compliments your skin. Different outfits look better with different jewelry, and the colors of clothes you wear may also make your skin glow slightly different. Whatever the case, don't be afraid to mix silver or gold and have fun playing around with complimentary colors!
